Wines will be available beginning May, 2010. |
- Cabernet Franc
Still aging - A thin-skinned red grape Cab Franc produces a fruity wine that is softer
and more subdued than its regal relative, Cabernet Sauvignon. With lower tannin levels and more distinct berry (mainly blueberry, raspberry and sometimes plum) flavor, Cabernet Franc is an
ideal candidate for blending with other varietals. However, Virginia wineries have been selling Cabernet Franc as a stand alone, single varietal with notable success.
- Chardonnay
Chardonnay is America’s number one selling white wine. The Chardonnay
grape itself also contributes to the wine’s popularity. It is a relatively “low-maintenance” vine that adapts well to a variety of climates, resulting in fairly high yields
worldwide.
Chardonnays boast an impressive range of flavors from the expected buttered, oak overtones to the fresh, fruit flavors of apple, pear, citrus and melon, leaving a lasting palate
impression.
- Vidal Blanc
Is a Maryland dry white wine. A white grape that can also be used to make a
dry- to semi-dry, full-bodied wine with fruity characteristics somewhat like Italian dry whites. Vidal's clean citrus flavors of lemon and grapefruit create a nicely balanced wine perfect with seafood and poultry.
At the Port of Leonardtown Winery we will also make our Vidal Blanc into a “late Harvest” dessert wine which we are sure will become one of your favorites.
- Breton Bay Breeze
Is a Maryland semi-sweet light wine blend. Vidal Blanc with a splash of Villard and Niagara and a touch of Voignier is sure to delight.
- Breton Bay Shoals
Is a Maryland semi-sweet red blend originating from a Chambourcin base. This is a delicious high-quality ruby-colored wine with a full aromatic flavor.
Chambourcin is extremely versatile, strong on its own, great in a blend, zestful as a sparkler and serious as a port.
- McIntosh Run
McIntosh Run is our full bodied semi-sweet white apple wine.
- Autumn Frost
Is an American lusciously sweet late harvest Vidal Blanc white wine.
The members of the Southern Maryland WineGrowers Association hope you will enjoy our wines responsibly.
